History

Utah Valley Civic Ballet was created in 1978 under the name “Aspen Folk and Ballet Company” by Ruth Brinkerhoff a renowned ballet dancer of the Midwest. Under the direction of Brinkerhoff, the Aspen Folk and Ballet Company served the community by performing at Senior citizen care facilities, city celebrations, local schools and at the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City. In 1990, Earlet Meiners was named company’s Artistic Director. The same year the name was changed to Utah Valley Civic Ballet. The Utah Valley Civic Ballet continued as an organization that provides the opportunity to dedicated dancers, to get together once a week and rehearse and perform as a group.
