Whether you are currently dancing at a studio, you haven’t danced in years, or you are still learning, we have a space for you!

All dancers, Ages 8 to All Adults, are welcome to audition and dance!

Time:

Adult Audition (Ages 14 – All Adults)

Saturday, September 12th, 2026 at 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Children’s Audition (Ages 8 – 14)

Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Party Parent Audition (All Adults) – Light dancing & acting

Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM

For all auditions, please arrive at 9:30 AM to check in and warm up.

Details:

Ages 8 – All Adult || All Dancers of All Skills & Abilities

Please arrive at 9:30 AM to complete registration, receive a number, and begin warming up.

The audition will consist of a short technique class, group learning of several parts, and audition each part in small groups.

This form will become available on August 19th, 2026, at 12:00 PM MST.

$15 Audition Fee (Venmo or Cash)

Note: If you are unable to attend auditions in person, please consider sending in a video audition. See FAQ’s for Video Audition Instructions. This option is only available for dancers who will be residents of Utah from September to December 2026.

Season Tuition:

Following the releasing of casting, tuition will be due. Exact financial dates will be sent out with casting.

Senior Company: $55/month, or $150 Upfront (~ 10% Discount)

Children’s Company: $50/month, or $135 Upfront (~ 10% Discount)

Party Parent’s Company: $45 Upfront

Tuition covers rehearsal fees, performance fees, and costume fees, all that is necessary to perform. There are optional add-ons such as: a company leotard, Tuesday open technique classes (Ages 14+), and tentatively UVCB Nutcracker items.

Note: Scholarship options will be available. We want to create opportunities for all to participate in the Nutcracker, and we want to remove the financial barriers when possible. Please reach out to a director if you have any questions regarding tuition.

Soloists (Sugar Plum & Cavalier, Snow Queen & King) will receive a full scholarship and a small stipend.

Parts to Audition:

Adult Audition (Ages 14 – All Adult of all skills & abilities)

Parts to Audition: Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Queen, Dew Drop, Arabian, Marzipan, Chinese, Spanish, Doll, Snowflakes, Flowers, etc.

Children’s Audition (Ages 8 – 14, of all skills & abilities)

Parts to Audition: Clara, Fritz, Party Girl & Party Boy, Soldier, Mice, Peppermint Sweets, etc.

Party Parent’s Audition (Ages 14 – All Adults, of all skills & abilities) Light dancing and acting roles.

Parts to Audition: Parents of Clara & Fritz, Party Parents, Lady’s in Waiting, etc.

Men’s Audition (Ages 14 – All Adult of all skills & abilities) Dancing, partnering, and light dancing & acting.

Parts to Audition: Sugar Plum Cavalier, Snow King, The Nutcracker, Russian, (potentially, Arabian, Chinese, and Spanish).

Note: If your child is the age of 14, and you are unsure which audition they should attend, please consider their current ability, level, and maturity. If desired, they can also attend both auditions, and we will place them in the appropriate group.

When & where will rehearsals be held?

Saturday Afternoons in Orem and Utah County

Below is a basic schedule. A detailed schedule will be released with casting, so dancers can plan accordingly.

Senior Company:

Saturdays, Center Stage Dance Studio, Orem.

11:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Approx.) Class & Rehearsals

Note: Soloist and Pas de Deux rehearsals will be scheduled on Saturday mornings.

Exact schedules and locations will be sent with casting.

Children’s Company:

Saturdays, Orem Fitness Center, Orem.

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Approx.) Class & Rehearsals

Exact schedules and locations will be sent with casting.

When will the performances be?

December 4-5, 2026, at the Orem Library Hall.

Are there any key dates I need to be aware of?

Yes, please make note of the list below. Close to the shows, there will be full-day rehearsals, so please plan on blocking out time from 9 AM – 9 PM (even though it might not extend the full period).

Please attend auditions even if you have questions or some conflicts on these key dates. There will be a space for you to list conflicts in your registration form, and we will evaluate if your schedule will be compatible enough to perform.

How can I prepare for auditions?

Continue working on your ballet technique, acting skills, and stage presence. No need to prepare a specific piece for auditions, we will teach you the choreography there.

Arrive at 10:30 AM to receive your number, and start warming up as soon as you can. Come feeling your best by eating a good breakfast before, and dress your best with your hair done and clean attire.

Is there a tuition fee for the season?

Yes, there will be a small tuition for the season for the Adult Company will be about $150-200 total, including the costume fee. Exact amounts announced shortly.

I will not be in town for the live audition, can I submit a video?

Yes, if you absolutely cannot attend the live audition, you may submit a video audition, which is due Friday, September 11th at 11:59 PM. Although we do not recommend this option, as it is difficult to determine without seeing you dance side by side with other dancers, and we want to be sure your submission is seen.

To submit:

1. Fill out the Registration Form,

2. Send us an Email OR fill out the Contact Form below, with a link to your video (This can be a YouTube link, a Google Photos folder or video, etc.)

3. Send a text to 801-358-8102, with the following “Hi, I submitted a video audition for The Nutcracker, my name is ___. Thank you!”.

Below is the list of videos to record yourself performing:

  • Optional Class Work: Fondus, Pirouettes, Adagio or Allegro (One Side)
  • Excerpt of Variation or Group Piece: 30 sec. – 1 min. of a Variation of your choosing.
  • OR
  • Professional Ballet/Dance Reel: 30 sec. – 2 min. of your performance or class work.

*Depending on your level, please record as much as you can en pointe, with the very least performing your variation.

Yes! You can join the team and help put on this classic production of the Nutcracker.

    • bookkeep, budget, and account for finances
    • plan activities and fundraise
    • edit, cut, and balance music
    • photograph and video
    • create and post content
    • arrange flowers

  • We need you!
  • There are so many things to do and to prepare to bring a full-length ballet together, and we can’t do it alone. Come be involved as much or as little as you’d like!
  • Lead a committee in an area you’re interested in, or come be a part of a committee and help where you want.


Who can audition?

Any dancer, Ages 8 – All Adults, no matter how long it’s been since you’ve danced. Utah Valley Civic Ballet is here to provide performance opportunities!
